FAOPS Council Participates in the 52nd Annual Congress of the Japan Society of Perinatal Medicine (JSPNM)

Last July 16-18, 2016, the office bearers of the Federation participated in two symposia organized during the 52nd Congress of the JSPNM, held in Toyama city, Japan. The first symposium focused on perinatal issues such as stillbirths (Reducing the Global Burden of Still births by Prof. David Ellwood), ECMO in critical Obstetrics (Use of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation in Critical Care Obstetrics by Prof. Chien Nan Lee). The second symposium focused on the role of societies in perinatal care (Prof. Mohammod Shahidullah) and topics related to the preterm such as “Preterm Metabolic Phenotype” by Prof. Ranjan Kumar Pejaver, “Standardized Implementation of Kangaroo Mother Care, Evidence and Experience” by Dr. Socorro De Leon-Mendoza, and “Perinatal Risk Factors for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in Infants with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia” by Prof. Han Suk Kim. Other speakers from Japan and Korea also shared their expertise on these topics during the 2 symposia. Perinatal brain damage: From a regional population-based study in Miyazaki District by Prof. Hiroshi Shameshima, Current Status of Neonatal Medicine in Japan by Prof. Kazuko Wada, and Stem Cell Therapy for Neonatal Disorders by Prof. Won Soon Park.
